DR. Meivys Garcia joined Markham Fertility Centre in 2011, where she continues to provide state-of-the-art, exceptional, and comprehensive care to her patients. She is also pleased to be able to offer obstetrical care for her patients who have conceived through fertility treatments and offers services in English and Spanish.
Dr. Garcia discovered her passion for Obstetrics and Gynaecology during her 5-year sub-specialty training at the University of Western Ontario. This led her to pursue a two-year Royal College Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, with specialty training in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology Surgery as it implies to infertility. Throughout her academic career, she received many prestigious awards, including (but not limited to) the Governor General Academic Medal, the Institute of Medical Science Academic Award, the Medical Biophysics Academic Award, the Helen Mildred Allison Academic Award, the Obstetrics and the Gynaecology Academic Proficiency Award, provided to the top resident of the graduating class.
Her research has also been well-recognized. She received the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health Research Award and the Paul Harding Research Award in 2008 and 2009.
Her main interests are in the area of unexplained infertility, immunological disorders leading to subfertility and fertility-enhancing surgery.
