MFC Holiday Closure Announcement for December 2024
Markham Fertility Centre will have a short winter closure starting at noon on December 20th, 2024, and will reopen on January 2nd, 2025. We are making every effort to complete treatment cycles before the closure. We will be open on December 30th for limited cycle monitoring only. Thank you for your understanding and patience!
Key Dates to Remember
December 20th: Clinic closes at noon
December 29th: Patients may call on this day to start a treatment cycle. Nurses will be available to set up treatment plans. If you know your cycle falls during this time, please reach out in advance of the closure to your nurse coordinator to determine if your cycle can be started in January or before November 30th.
December 30th: Clinic open until noon for limited cycle monitoring only
January 2nd: Clinic opens for full service
Why does Markham Fertility Centre Close over the holidays?
The holiday closure allows the clinic to do a complete and thorough clean and to perform important preventive maintenance on equipment without disruption to clinical care. We also believe it is important for employees to have down time and rejuvenate for the upcoming year. We value our staff and our patients.
This year Markham Fertility will also be undertaking some minor renovations to improve the reception, waiting room, and lobby areas. We want to create a more comfortable, accessible, and private environment for our patients. We are excited for this change and hope you will like them too. Renovations will continue between December and continue into January.
Will Markham Fertility accept urgent referrals during the closure?
We will keep watch for urgent referrals and respond to them accordingly. An urgent referral is typically a person diagnosed with cancer who can benefit from fertility counselling and/or fertility preservation. Expect a response within 48 hours over the holiday period.
Will the Emergency After Hours Line be monitored during the holidays?
The After Hours Line will not be active during the period between December 20th and December 30th. The after hours line will be operational again after 3pm on December 29th.
Will Markham Fertility Centre respond to new referrals?
We will keep watch for urgent referrals only and respond to new patient referrals after January 2nd.
Where can I purchase medications?
Our dispensary will be closed between December 20th and December 30th. Medications can be purchased from our Dispensary on the 30th before noon. If you need medications during this time, please purchase before we close on December 20th at our dispensary or have your physician fax a prescription to your pharmacy of choice.
What if I am pregnant and bleeding?
If the bleeding is as much as a period, please go to your nearest emergency department; if less, please see your family doctor or go to a walk-in clinic.
What if I need a pregnancy test?
There will be a requisition in your portal. Please choose the correct form: First Beta or Second Beta
What if I cannot access my portal?
