Diagnostic Imaging
Gynecologic, fertility and obstetric imaging delivered by trusted partners.
About Diagnostic Ultrasound Services
Ultrasound imaging is an integral part of your care throughout all stages of your reproductive journey including diagnosis, cycle monitoring, confirmation of pregnancy, and pregnancy monitoring. Markham Fertility Centre has partnered with CARE Imaging, located on the same floor as the clinic. CARE Imaging specializes in fertility, gynecologic, and obstetric ultrasounds. They possess a deep understanding of our patients and the challenges they face.
You may undergo an ultrasound at various stages in your journey including:
-
Diagnostic phase where we examine the health of your uterus, fallopian tubes and egg quantity. These exams are done for all patients as part of the initial investigations.
-
Treatment phase where where we perform follicle tracking ultrasounds to measure the progress of ovarian stimulation or uterine lining.
-
Obstetric phase where we perform ultrasounds to confirm pregnancy and monitor progress.
Below, we provide more details on each of the ultrasound exams that you may encounter during treatment at Markham Fertility Centre.
Investigative and Pre-Treatment Ultrasounds

Sonohysterogram
A diagnostic exam to evaluate the shape of the uterus and determine whether the fallopian tubes are open or closed.

Pelvic Baseline Ultrasound with Antral Follicle Count (AFC)
A 3D ultrasound to assess the uterus and ovaries for anomalies and to check ovarian reserve.
Ultrasounds that Occur During Treatment

Follicle Tracking Ultrasound

Ultrasound Guided Embryo Transfer
An ultrasound performed at the time an embryo is transferred into the uterus to help the doctor find the perfect spot.
Pregnancy Ultrasounds

Early Obstetric Ultrasound
An abdominal ultrasound that is done to confirm pregnancy, usually between week 5 and 7 of pregnancy, repeated as necessary.

Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound
